The Petroleum Club of Houston was founded in 1946 as a social club for the city's oil industry elite. In the early 1963, they relocated from the Rice Hotel to the top two floors of the ExxonMobil Building in order to accommodate growing membership. Architect George Pierce and interior designer William Parker McFadden designed the space, drawing from the history of American oil production for inspiration. The present example features a hand-hammered aluminium frame paired with hand-blown, incizo Venini glass, evoking early oil-burning lamps.
